UN and Hungarian police data on homicide rates is controversial
Hungarian police have reported the number of murders in the country, Index.hu writes. The data on intentional homicide are from the Egységes Nyomozó Hatósági és Ügyészségi Bűnügyi Statisztika – ENYÜBS (approx.: Unified Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution Statistics)
Police.hu writes that the data of ENYÜBS is a follow-up and always informs about the cases closed during the reported period. These statistics do not include the time of the crime, but the time at which the cases were closed, and statistics recorded. They added that their data comes from verifiable facts and traceable cases, and that many false numbers are circulating on the internet about murder statistics in Hungary and that those should not be trusted.
According to the data of the police, in 2017 there were 90 intentional and completed homicides – contrary to the UN’s figures of 242 murders – in 2018 this number dropped to 78, and last year, in 2019 it was as low as 58 homicides.
Broken down among Hungary’s citizens (calculating with a population of 9.79 Million), these numbers are 0.92 murders per 100,000 people in 2017, 0.79 killings in 2018 and finally, in 2019 the number is 0.59 homicides per 100,000 Hungarian residents. To put it in perspective, the number of murders in the United States in 2017 was around 5.3 for every hundred thousand citizens.

Presumably the police responded to the UN’s data because several articles appeared in the Hungarian media about the Hungarian National Police Headquarters and the UN having different statistics about the actual cases of homicides in Hungary.
The police also wrote that, according to the figures, Hungary is a safe country and Budapest has received the ‘European Best Destination 2019’ award. This means that the Hungarian capital is not only one of the most beautiful but also one of the safest cities.

We all know that the UN is dominated by George Soros and his terribly friends. They want to harm Hungary. I live
in Germany and we are afraid every day. Fear of criminal migrants. That´s the thruth. I live in Germany, but my grandmother was Hungarian, she was born in Budapest and lived in Hamburg, West-Germany. Hungary is one of the saftest countries and Germany not. Therefore I will soon live in Hungary. No Soros, few criminals, and no migrants. Christians only, like my grandmother. Hungary has a great future with Viktor Orbán. Köszönöm!
